Die Mitteilung des EPC im Wortlaut:

EPC COPRODUCTION FORUMS 2009

The European Producers Club (EPC) is currently launching a call for projects for its 2009 European Coproduction Forums.

New for 2009

Building on last year’s successful “à la carte” formula, in which selected European projects were supplied with professional encounters tailor-made to their needs throughout the year, EPC has decided to expand the forums with the inclusion of special consultants. These consultants, selected according to a different theme for each event, will be ready to provide precise, up-to-date information on the following subjects:

  • Berlin Forum: special consultant on co-production: what co-production possibilities does your project have? What can you expect from a possible partner and what can you offer them?
  • Cannes Forum: special consultant on sales: what are your possible revenues from abroad? What kind of sales would your project suitable for?
  • London / Rome Forum: special consultant on finance: what can a financial partner bring to your project? At what price? What about gap financing?
  • EFA (Essen) Forum*: special consultant on regional film funds: when do you need to contact them? What kind of advantages can they bring you?

Our 2009 forums will take place at 4 different European festivals, incuding the Berlinale, Cannes,  Times BFI London Film Festival or the Rome International Film Festival, and during the European Film Awards.

In 2008, 47 projects from 15 European countries were presented at EPC forums. These included projects directed, among others, by Peter Greenaway, Agnieszka Holland and Renny Harlin. Past projects at our forums have also included Paolo Sorrentino’s Il Divo (Prix du Jury – Cannes 2008; Best Actor – EFA 2008), and Eran Riklis’ Lemon Tree (Audience Award – Berlinale 2008; Best Actress – Israeli Film Academy 2008).
EPC’s goal to provide a suitable number of meetings for each project from contacts across Europe was well met, as 244 meetings were set up this year with professionals from 25 different countries.

What do EPC Forums offer to participants?

  • the possibility to present their projects several times throughout the year at major European film festivals, allowing them to meet a wide variety and number of film professionals.
  • an in-depth understanding of projects allowing meaningful and valuable meetings, prepared in advance, to be set up.
  • meetings with a wide variety of film professionals based on the project’s needs: producers, sales agents, distributors, film commissions, etc. Among this year’s participants were representatives from Pandora Film, Pyramide Films, Zentropa Productions, Future Films Group, Filmax, Rezo Films, Non-Stop Sales, Bankside Films, Hanway Films and Fortissimo.
  • follow-up: EPC is available to provide continuous support throughout the year, not just at each forum. Selected projects are also posted on the European Cinema Network, an online network for European film professionals.
  • New to 2009: special consultants, focusing on a different theme each forum
